Akili has extensive experience building effective learning products and launching large-scale learning initiatives. He holds a B.A. in Computing and Information Systems from Northwestern University and an M.S. in Business Information Systems from DePaul University. Akili has spent the last 14 years creating human-centered and technology-empowered systems that provide people with equitable access to opportunity.
Before joining ThinkCERCA, Akili co-founded Digital Youth Network (DYN) an organization that designs tools, programs, and frameworks to support connected learning. He helped to create YOUmedia, a model for redefining the library experience for youth later replicated in over 20 cities. Akili also led the creation of the platform powering the Chicago City of Learning, which serves tens of thousands of Chicago youth and has been adopted in cities across the country. He is the co-founder and former CEO of Remix Learning, a social enterprise that lends its social learning platform to a variety of youth and adult-serving institutions.
