Steve has been an advocate for sustainable, healthy teaching within the greater Milwaukee Area for more than five years. After graduating with degrees in English and secondary education from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, Steve has fought to improve his own teaching practices as an IB English teacher at Reagan IB High School, as well as those of his peers as a Personalized Blended Learning (PBL) Coordinator throughout the entire Milwaukee Public School District. Over the past two years, Steve’s additional work as a consultant has led him to ThinkCERCA, where he is humbled to be part of a team that understands the demanding, critical role educators must play in order for their students to succeed, as well as an active guide in the brave new journeys our school districts set sail for each school year. In this work, Steve is joined by his beautiful wife Millicent, and their three awesome kiddos, Huxley, Luella, and Marigold.
What was your first car? My first car was a VW Vanagon (bus). Sure, only the first and fourth gears worked (I had to double clutch between the two), but that’s what you get for $600 bucks.
What “lesson from mom” do you still live by today? As an educator of 34 years, especially within our current day of classroom innovation, her words ring true: “As long as you do what is best for the kids, as teachers, we cannot go wrong.”
What is your favorite quote? “Words are, in my not-so-humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic. Capable of both inflicting injury, and remedying it.” – Dumbledore
