Ugochi Jones

Senior Data Scientist

Quality education encourages individuals to recognize and express their power to impact the world. With this belief, Ugochi has pursued a career path focused on improving the educational opportunities of all students. In her effort to accomplish this, she has engaged-in and co-designed research projects funded by the MacArthur Foundation and the National Science Foundation (NSF). In the NSF-funded Broadening Participation in Computing project, she led the research and design of interventions to engage minority youth in computer science learning opportunities, including creating a computational making pathway that supported teens across Chicago in participating computing activities.

In the Chicago City of Learning (CCoL) project, she was responsible for the formulation of analyses on the CCoL infrastructure and used data mining techniques, statistical analyses, and interactive visualizations to reveal patterns within the data.

Ugochi received her Bachelors in Electrical Engineering, Masters in Computer Science, and Ph.D. in Learning Sciences and Technology Design from Stanford University. She has been a faculty member at DePaul University and was previously a Senior Data Analyst with Digital Youth Network.
